Not only does it diminish stress and fatigue, massage provides many other healing benefits. It reduces congestion and improves circulation, increasing oxygen and nutrient supplies to muscles, joints, organs and the brain. Massage calms the nerves and stimulates elimination of metabolic waste, often speeding recovery from illness and injuries. It also reduces pain due to spasm, inflammation and tissue damage. You not only feel better after a massage; you look better, too. Posture, skin tone and energy levels all receive a boost!
Breathe freely. It is quite natural and common to express the release of tension or emotions. Let everything out. If you experience any discomfort, inform your therapist immediately. Feel free to give feedback or make requests, but keep conversation to a minimum and focus on relaxation.
